Review on πŸ”Œ Dorman Ford Truck Blower Motor Resistor Harness 973-307, Black by Jeff Jordan

Great fit for my 1996 Ford Bronco XLT. So happy.

Fits my 1996 Ford Bronco XLT perfectly. I'm glad I was able to find this replacement wiring harness for a Revain with Prime at such a great price. My factory plug melted/burned out on the black wire. As the resistor and wiring harness corrode over time, the resistance in the connector will build up and the connector will melt due to excessive heat. It can also be because an old fan motor with corrosion and rusting in the motor is also drawing too much current, causing excessive current draw throughout the circuit. Replacing the resistor pack, wiring harness, fan motor, and foam gasket is the best way to "fix" this problem. Cables can melt and catch fire if any of these parts are improperly attached or replaced. I decided to solder and shrink the connections instead of using the supplied crimp connectors. Even though all the wires on the connector were black, I used a label maker and made labels for each wire before installing. Wire gauge matched factory 12G wiring harness. The connector fits perfectly and securely into the new Ford Motorcraft fan motor resistor. I suggest putting a drop of dielectric grease on each terminal of the connector and the edges of the connector before inserting it into the resistor socket. This prevents moisture and water from entering the connectors for longer life and minimal corrosion over time, and helps lubricate and seal the connector when you insert it into the resistor. I took off one star because the crimped ends of the terminals that plugged into the Dorman factory plug (crimp plugs not included) did not fit snugly into the plastic of the Dorman plug. Each terminal was loose and dangling in the plastic. It really bothered me because the factory was solid and had no play. To fix this my idea is to use clear silicone sealant and apply it to the back of each terminal hole to secure and seal the terminal in the connector. Overall it was a great product and an integral part of the "solution" to keep my fan motor running safely at all speeds. Thank you Revane and Dorman!
