Okay I bought this for a weird reason to use on my smoker to stop leaks. This works great and stays in place and wedges into cracks in my metal smoker. After closing the lid, I place it on the back edge and it seals perfectly. When I'm done, open the lid and it falls out ready to be used next time. Try it to seal the smoker, works great! Elsewhere I've inserted it into holes and it's permanent.
