I love the factory front suspension on the Sprinter, but the rear suspension is sooooo weak for the NAFTA RV market (designed by die-hard German engineers who think the world should match their specs ). The hope is that when Sprinter production moves to South Carolina for NAFTA, the rear suspension will be better suited to the RV market. The first upgrade was a Hellwig 1-1/2 stabilizer, a big help from the factory. Helps with crosswinds on the freeway, noticeably shortens braking distances, but makes it a bit springier on bad roads. The second update was to replace the crappy factory ZF shocks with these gas shocks. Even more stability on the freeway in cross winds. Helps reduce the chassis' natural lean and really improves rebound on gravel roads (softer at high speeds than at low speeds). Other RV owners have noticed and been impressed that my RV does not collapse when braking. Don't let anyone talk you into replacing your rear shocks with an "OEM replacement". They want improved shock control, and they only cost a few dollars more. Over time the factory changed the ZF top mount to save a few bucks. Although the dates may not be clear, 24-177702 fits all model years of Sprinters with two rear wheels. You may need spacers on older models to take up additional space on the mount. Buy them and enjoy driving your Sprinter camper van!
