Well, it's a block of cork, which is just what I expected, and it fulfills its purpose well. I think the cork blocks are a little heavier than other synthetic blocks. One thing I wanted to point out to potential buyers is that in the picture shown on amazon, it looks like the block has very sharp edges (may be the lighting) but actually all the edges of the block are all pleasantly rounded. It looks better in person than in the picture. This is my second one, so I knew what to expect but I thought it would be useful info for potential buyers! (I would not like it as much if it had sharp-angled edges which would tend to dent/scuff and make weight-bearing positions/grips less comfortable)
