Once a month I had to open the outer box (tetra ex1200+) to replace the fine cleaning sponge, it was completely clogged, the water flow dropped and a suspension appeared, I bought two eheim pre-filters, removed the top and bottom covers from one, I use four baskets at the same time, on the top cover, with using a drill machine and a nozzle with sandpaper, expanded the outlet to the maximum possible, ~ 17 mm, after which the volume of the duct was restored to the usual 800 l / h, for 3 months of use it was washed 3 times, that is, once a month, the baskets clog unevenly, the upper stronger but the water goes through the lower ones ., the need for external maintenance during this time has disappeared, the water is clean, the flow does not fall, except that the hoses and the flute are overgrown, but this has nothing to do with the prefilter .;) when removing the prefilter from the aquarium, there is a slight separation of dirt, but many times less than when extracting the native Tetra sponge that comes with the kit, it doesn’t delay anything, but it overgrows with dirt itself pretty much . in general, I’m very satisfied with the product, certainly better than all these dirty washcloths that I need to extract with the help of bags and other dances with a tambourine, and given the depth of my aquarium 70cm, it is very difficult, so I like the eheim filter and can recommend it as a very successful product
