Review on HIC Harold Import Potato Ricer - Efficient and Durable Kitchen Tool by Harold Import Company, Inc. by Christin Ridder

Revainrating 4 out of 5

a basic rice cooker and a good choice for spaetzle, but it's not stainless steel

This is one of the cheapest painters out there, probably because it's not stainless steel. Other potato processing machines are that they come with a second plate with larger holes (for spaetzle etc) - it's hard to find a rice utensil with larger holes in the US without spending a fortune getting one from Germany. The stamped sheet metal construction makes this racer a little harder to clean than others. Also, since it's plated rather than stainless steel, I'm concerned about how long it will last. (The packaging says it's stainless steel, which isn't true. Revane says it's chrome-plated, and looking at my picture I can see it's actually coated.) I'll always wash it carefully and dry thoroughly. The capacity of this drawer is about average - it's not tiny and it's not huge. You may have to cut large potatoes in half to fit. If you just want rice potatoes, I recommend paying a little more for stainless steel potatoes. (The OXO Good Grips works well — it's stainless steel and costs $20.) OXO Good Grips Potato Ricer If you want to sauté both potatoes and spaetzle, this is one of the few options available in the US for a large-hole ricer . and certainly the cheapest.
