Very soft and fluffy, but not very thick. This is best for smaller dogs. Mine are both around 50lbs and really don't like this as a bed. It gets the most use as a pillow when they are on the couch. The GSP will fluff it and shove it into the corner of the sectional and prop herself against it or use it as a pillow. But neither will use it as a bed, they prefer the memory foam and round snuggle beds.As a word of warning if the fur side is facing up DO NOT STEP ON IT, your foot will slide on the slick part that is on the bottom and you will lose your footing.
