Review on Dorman 604 116 Air Door Actuator by Tyler Bonnell

Get ready to test your patience.

I installed this actuator on a 95 gmc c1500. I followed the instructions that came with it. The instructions say not to connect to the network before installing. I gave it one star for installation, but that's not the drive's fault, it's where it's located. This is located behind the fan on the left and controls the recirculation and fresh air door. The glove box had to be removed to access the top ratchet screw, which gave me enough room to put my arm through. I used a 1/4" ratchet with a 5.5mm head and a piece of 2" PVC pipe about 4" long so it would have a longer handle to get onto the top screw access. Tape the top screw to the base for easier starting. To align the shaft, I pushed the door into the shaft. Now that it's installed I can switch from fresh to recycled.

Pros
  • Like all previous ones
Cons
  • Requires socket
