Review on 🎤 Sony ICD-AX412: Your Ultimate Stereo Digital Voice Recorder by Ryan Reed

Bought last semester (Spring 2012) for lecture capture. I have to say it was very helpful. I've only included it in a senior class (small classes) and so far it's worked great. The reason I bought it was because I can't remember what the professor used to say in class sometimes. Other advantages are that 1) I don't have to take notes most of the time (just look at the slides and listen to the lecture at the same time) and can fully concentrate on understanding the lecture 2) sometimes you lose the overview in class is discussed ( maybe it was too complicated or had a deeper meaning) - if you watch the lecture again, it's easy to understand. I took a lot of courses last semester. As a result, I did not have time to read the book. This pattern of going through a recorded lecture and looking at slides was found to be crucial in preparing for exams at the time. I like this recorder because it has two microphones and it records clearly. I set the sensitivity to medium so you can pick up unwanted noise like things moving etc., but that's fine as you can sometimes pick up questions from your colleagues from a far corner of the room. Disclaimer: I do not use the advanced features of this voice recorder. For my main purposes of recording a lecture and then transferring the lectures to my computer, this device works great and I am very happy with it. Note: Do not delete files on the device with your computer. The registrar does not recognize it. I made that mistake yesterday. As a result, I couldn't record a lecture today because the device thinks it's out of memory. Only use the Delete button to delete files. Customer support (chat) was helpful.
