I took this bag 1500 miles from Boston to Miami in the 2 days I moved in and I had about 90 pounds in it. Initially I was pleased with the ease of installation and how well it held up on the track. I cleaned the roof, made all the adjustments suggested in the manual, and even had to move the weight to make sure it didn't make a permanent dent in my Chevy Malibu's thin roof. When I got to North Carolina I noticed wear and tear on the sides of the bag, probably because it swayed in the wind, even though the bag was relatively tight all around and I respected the speed limit. I noticed a small hole that had formed and sealed it with duct tape (I recommend having duct tape for each type of these bags). The bag and things inside seemed to be holding up well at this point. When I was traveling in Florida, I was surprised by a thunderstorm and heavy rain. When I got to my destination, I opened the bag and noticed a fair amount of water at the bottom of the bag. It was enough to wet the bottom of the large luggage I had on the roof but luckily I expected the bag to leak and all my clothes and essentials were in plastic bags. I just had to dry the luggage myself when I got there. The bag held and got me to my destination, but it wasn't until I unloaded and looked at my car that I realized that both seatbelts had left marks on both. side of the car. I had hoped the marks were just scraps of plastic from the straps, which had been taut the entire trip. Unfortunately not, I washed the car and tried to remove the stains with Goo Gone but it didn't work completely. The markings are pretty obvious as you will see in the photos. The scratch-resistant pad also left marks on my roof. It looks like it's not just a residue, especially after washing with a sponge. In the end, this bag made it to the end of the trip but left marks on my car that apparently can no longer be repaired without great expense. . I would recommend when you are buying to find some sort of foam or protective sheeting to prevent this from happening to you. However, the manufacturer has to provide protection or redesign their harnesses to prevent this.
