I bought these to create a set of discs to install the operating system, including a backup installer to reinstall Windows 10 Home Edition (in case I factory reset my laptop reset) , and an installer for Ubuntu 20.04, Kubuntu 20.04, and some other flavors of Linux. This disk worked with both Windows (where I backed up the installer) and Mac OS (the system where I downloaded and wrote Linux installers). On a freshly installed Linux I've also found them to work. In short, they're broadly compatible (I've noticed in the past that some other competing USB sticks have been formatted to not work with multiple operating systems.). And they also have enough space to create operating system installation disks and to back up software and documents (however, backing up a whole collection of music, videos and photos would probably be a different story. For that, you might want to consider a more expensive external hard drive or cloud service supporting such backups).
