Review on The EZBR-0214+ EZ-Bridge-Lite: High-Power Outdoor Wireless Point-to-Point System by Maria Aguillon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

There were some problems at first, but Tycon technical support helped me.

Unlike most buyers, my antennas didn't work right away. I don't know much about networking at all, but I learned a few things during this setup. One important thing to avoid is when you first turn on the antennas, do not connect the receiving antenna to your router. If, like me, you need WiFi on the receiving side, configure the router as a "Wireless Access Point" on this side. I think that screwed me up - the receiving router gave the antenna on the other side an IP address and messed up the connection between the two antennas. Eventually I learned how to download the Tycons "Discovery Tool" and factory reset the antennas using the internet browser button in that window, not just the "Restore/Reset" button next to it. I also ran a Cat5e cable. from the Smart TVs at the receiving location to the WiFi router, which I set up there as a WiFi access point. Everything works great. I have two houses that are 250 feet apart and the connection between the houses is like a Category 5e cable. Love it and will buy another set for another project. Tycon's customer service has been fantastic. Update 1 year later: Everything still works great. No issues, no maintenance, no reboots or problems. I have since bought another set of antennas for a more ambitious project. This time the gap I was trying to bridge was about 1325 feet - just under 1/4 mile from the distant building. I went as far as installing two 20 foot tall 4x6 milled poles to elevate the antennas over some small pine trees. I was concerned about some other trees and branches getting in the way but this works very well. I can stream movies perfectly in this remote place and that's all I could ask for. I love this system! My one modem (and internet bill) now covers three buildings. Very very happy.

Pros
  • This is the ideal plug-and-play solution for connecting networks in two or more buildings, sharing the internet, remote video surveillance or dial-up network access.
Cons
  • Band
