I love my new sandals. I had to return the first pair I bought because they were a whole size bigger than I expected, but now that I have the right shoes, they treat me well. Today I wore them longboarding and had no problems. I later took my family on a fun hike and was again pleased with the performance. This is my first closed sandal. I bought them specifically to protect my feet when loading and unloading the boat and also to avoid tripping over rocks when hiking. Dirt and sticks get in as you would expect, and some dirt can collect in the tie area, where I'm used to squeezing it out in open-toe sandals. They had a very strong chemical smell right out of the box, but that went away after a pair of socks. I'm curious how long they'll take to dry this summer when I use them for boating, but haven't tested that yet. They meet my protection needs, look good, are comfortable and have a really solid tread (much better than my worn out hiking boots). I'm happy.
