I used to draw a lot and pencils have always been my favorite medium. Not just your typical #2 pencils, these come in a range of hardnesses including a very soft lead that you can literally write on your hand if you like. And of course paper pencils that can be used to smudge and soften marks. Colored pencils come in a wide variety; I don't use it that often but it's good quality and doesn't break like the cheaper ones. With a quality eraser, sharpener, and pen tool, this is great for any artist!
