I would give four stars here first. The only initial complaint I had was that the ice cubes were difficult to remove. I have had these bowls for over a couple of years and am happy with the size and shape of the ice cream. I almost never use ice, so I probably never noticed the increasingly off-putting smell/taste. Also, I only ever use ice for mixed drinks, so the drinks may have overpowered the poor taste of this product. I found the flavor of the ice cream a bit odd at times, but after cleaning the tray the flavors were undetectable every time. I have Tovolo Sphere ice molds and I LOVE them. I don't get bad taste and I find them easy to use. I'm surprised it's the same brand. I have never given a product a star. That's mostly because I spent months trying to locate the horrible smell in my freezer. I never took the time to focus on what I thought the final scent would be. Since I rarely make ice cream, I just didn't notice it before. I finally took them out for a deep cleaning today and now I can smell it from the kitchen dryer as I sit in the living room typing this review. I've tried dish soap, bleach, vinegar, pine-sol, boiling water and left them in soapy water for several hours. Nothing. If anything, it smells worse. I just gotta get rid of these trays. I'm sorry to give up On the plus side, the construction of the bowls feels solid and the ice cubes look nice. In general, it's not worth it. Maybe it's not 100% silicone, I'm not sure. Just stay away if you're sensitive to plasticy tastes and aromas.
