Not the best choice for a medium or large dog.

So I just put it in the ground and my 45 lb dog was hooked. Everything seems cool, right? The next minute someone comes by and my dog runs towards them like a madman. I was standing next to the post so that my heel was almost severed by the wire. Not the worst. Everything went too fast, my neck was broken. Just a very very bad choice if you have a strong dog.
