Review on Motorcraft MCS104222 Lower Ball Joint by Jose Ortega

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sometimes an OEM part makes sense!

I just replaced the lower ball joints and upper control arms on my 2001 Lincoln Navigator. Factory ball joints have served us 158,000 miles! (The driver's side lower ball joint was still ok!) That told me that using Ford parts made sense here. It turned out to be easier than I expected and I saved $1,000 by doing it myself. The trick was to pull out the old one as the originals can't be pushed out. I blocked (4x4 reinforced) A's forearms and carefully knocked BJ out with a hammer. Worked great. Make sure you use a good press to set up the new BJ, it will do much better. Power the guys who do everything with their own hands!

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Reliability
