Ford hinges last a long time.

I have a heavy 2000 Expedition with 140,000 miles. The lower ball joints have little play. So I can change them if I ever feel like it. If I do that, I already have all the parts. The lower ones wear out first. The top not so much.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was

Cheaper than short-lived Chinese junk, despite the higher price.

OE quality with Zerk connector. The originals went 15 years without mirror installation. I don't think there is even one Rockwell hardness tester in all of China as none of their ball joints or bearings last more than a few years.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • May damage

Expensive but good. Moog next time.

I wanted to buy a new Moog, but at the last moment I was afraid to buy a non-original part. After installing it on my Ford Expedition XLT 2000. I noticed that MOOG's after sales service is just as good. Once installed, Motorcraft ball joints are amazing. restored back to stock. That's enough for another 254,000 miles.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Sometimes an OEM part makes sense!

I just replaced the lower ball joints and upper control arms on my 2001 Lincoln Navigator. Factory ball joints have served us 158,000 miles! (The driver's side lower ball joint was still ok!) That told me that using Ford parts made sense here. It turned out to be easier than I expected and I saved $1,000 by doing it myself. The trick was to pull out the old one as the originals can't be pushed out. I blocked (4x4 reinforced) A's forearms and carefully knocked BJ out with a hammer. Worked great.

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Reliability
