What I had to use it for (VHS-C recordings) it worked fine. I hooked it up to the VHS deck and everything went fine. The software that came with it was fine, I only used it to record videos. Changes are made elsewhere. Compression isn't too high for tape dumps, a 30 minute recording is just over 7GB. I have used other products and the same length was 4 times the space required. In this case the quality is acceptable for my purposes. The video is finally compressed after editing.
