I didn't even realize how weak my old lift struts were until one day the tailgate started falling off. I immediately ordered all 3 for my car (2 for the sunroof, 1 for the hood) and I'm glad I did. They can get hit by the hood or sunroof if they fall, but the worst I've seen is a guy get stuck in a car from a falling hood. The pain alone makes me glad I paid instead, not to mention the hospital bill. Don't wait, just replace them now. They are cheap and very easy to replace.
