Review on πŸ–₯️ Silence Enhanced! Pure Base 600 Black - BG021 Mid-Tower ATX with Dual Pre-Installed Cooling Fans by Johnny Grant

Acceptable, but it would be nice to know the shortcomings in advance

Overall I am satisfied. It is suitable for Gigabyte Aolus Ultra motherboard with Noctua NH-U14S. Even with eight fans running (three front, one rear, two CPUs, one chipset, one power supply) it's quiet, and the dampening material on the sides of the case seems at least somewhat effective. I like the sleek black body that doesn't have room for multicolored LEDs. The power button is located centrally on the top front panel and is easy to reach, while the reset button is small and unlikely to be accidentally pressed. High feet on the bottom are a good idea, especially when mounting the PSU to use the bottom vent. (I know other reviews complain about non-threaded motherboard standoffs, and I had one too, but I think that's by design and not considered a bug.) Unfortunately, there were a few downsides. Thumbscrews are cheap, and on my device, the screw arrived by slightly bending the thin steel it was screwed into. At this price I expected quality post or bushing propellers everywhere. All screws are cheap, inside and out. They screw into threaded holes in thin metal. I expect them to twist and loosen easily even if handled gently. Cleaning the front panel filter is inconvenient as I cannot remove the front panel to access the captive air filters without removing them. Side panels to release the front panel latches. I prefer cases where the front panel can be removed without disassembling the case. It comes with three drive bays and five bays for those bays, and none have an optional be quiet hard drive bay available. The back of the motherboard tray is a joke. I'm not sure which drives they actually fit. Maybe 5mm ultra-thin discs? The 7mm disc I tried definitely doesn't fit at all. In any case there is no effective air. In any event, the flow through is behind the motherboard tray at this point, so I would assume these cells are just there for show. The USB 3 slots on the front aren't blue and I wish they were. There's no USB-C port on the front, and there's no convenient way to add one. It would be nice to have a USB-C 3.1 connector with a Type-E connector on the other end to work with modern motherboards. If you want to mount it nicely on the front, you should probably use a 5.25" drive bay adapter. In this case, you cannot install a fan in front of the 5.25" drive bay. It looks like you can add 3 be quiet Pure Wings 2 140mm fans to the front, there are links to the option to add fans and I thought I saw a link somewhere to add 3 of them to the to place in front. , but you can't really fit three. It comes with one in the middle that you can move up or down in front, or you can have one fan on top and one fan on bottom, but you can't have three covering the front. I purchased two additional Pure Wings 2 140mm fans and then found that only one of the two extras would fit. I solved this by placing a third fan in the middle, but in the case closer to the HDD cages, and using four M4x60 screws through the middle mounting holes in the top and bottom fans, through the mounting holes in the case and then through the mounting holes in the inner middle fan . In addition, the fan switch on the front panel can control up to three fans. It is connected to a 120mm fan on the rear and a 140mm fan on the front, and there is an additional header on the front for a second fan. Instead, I connected all three 140mm fans to the motherboard with the fan control switch connected only to the rear fan.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Unusable features
