Opaque PVC Plastic Container

After years of researching hypothyroidism, I found Rootcology. The website is full of information and I was delighted to be able to order my own blood and this protein powder. However, while researching protein powders, I realized the importance of independent testing to ensure they are free of heavy metals (lead, cardamom, arsenic, mercury, and amino acids). Rootcology has not responded to any of my emails or calls. There is no mention of third party testing or transparency regarding the research or trials conducted to verify the effectiveness of their products on their website. I want to be a supporter and keep using their protein and magnesium but don't feel safe until they clarify what their labels claim. The packaging doesn't say it doesn't contain BPA. Rather, the container is made of "priority plastics" and PVC! Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a hard plastic made from vinyl chloride. It is made softer and more flexible by the addition of phthalates and may contain traces of chemicals such as Bisphenol A (BPA). I'm shocked that someone who claims to rid the thyroid of triggers can wrap their groceries in cancer-causing plastic! And inside the container is not sewn at all. We all know that these chemicals get into the foods that contain them. Third party testing aside, if the label is true then it is a product that should be sold at Whole Foods and not just online. Stevia (artificial sweetener) gives it an unusual taste. The texture is sticky and clumpy when you try to blend it into a smoothie or bowl of acai. The container is usually filled with powder. Didn't upset my stomach. However, after three days I started developing breakouts on my jaw, which is odd considering I'm in my late 30s. Research suggests that adult acne could be due to a buildup of toxins in the liver. I'm not sure if this protein contains impurities not listed. In general, I can deal with stevia flavor and gooey gobs, but only if it really is what the label says it is. For now, I hope Rootcology can help us all find pure ingredients to treat our thyroid by providing transparent, unbiased third-party test results to ensure we are not ingesting heavy metals, BPA, plastics or arsenic. I'm returning this as long as I can be sure it's safe!
