I have a very skinny child but I would still say they are too big. My son is a size 5 on most brands but he's only now fitting into these 4T shorts. I got them a long time ago and they have only fallen off so far. So if your child is skinny like me, go down one size. The shorts are made of very high quality material/cotton. Nice and thick, almost like soft denim material. They look good but are comfortable enough to play in all day. I love the pattern too!
