I wanted something like this to use an old car stereo to make easy phone calls and stream high quality audio from my phone. This works well for the first and badly for the second. First about all right. This device was very easy to set up. It connected quickly and I never had any problems with Bluetooth. People I called said the voice quality was decent, background noise was low, and they sounded fine to me in a noisy truck. The echo cancellation was very good, I had no problem hearing people and they had no problem hearing me. If you just want to make phone calls, this is a great deal. But I also wanted to get good audio from Bluetooth sources. I have several Bluetooth audio products and I know what the technology is capable of. Music sound quality is where this product falls short. As well as being an audio freak, I've also been a television presenter, broadcast engineer and electronics geek. i know about it Unfortunately, this device is unable to handle high frequencies at higher levels. Cymbal crashes and just about anything that has any kind of noise will be very distorted. I'm good with things like levels and headroom, so I've tried a number of workarounds to solve the distortion problem. Reducing the Bluetooth input level helped the most, but it also got us much closer to the noise floor of this device. The thing is far from quiet and suffers from a fair amount of processing noise that is actually audible. The quiet parts will be anything but filled with repetitive beeps, bursts and bursts that ruin the listening experience. In one instance the noise was so loud that I thought something was wrong with the rip as I hadn't heard it before. But there's nothing wrong with that. This is simply poor noise reduction and is likely a design decision factor based on the cost of the device. When choosing a price you have to make compromises and I understand that. Hell, I had to do it myself. For a lot of people, this thing will probably be good enough. It definitely works great for phone calls. But it's mediocre at best for the sound. One of the things I really dislike is the pseudo spectrum display. A multicolored histogram doesn't mean anything, doesn't correlate to what's being played or anything else. That's the most useless thing I've ever seen. Worse, it takes up valuable screen real estate that could be occupied by something else, and you can't turn it off. Another thing I don't care about is the font used for the display. Chinese fonts look special when writing Arabic characters and are distinctive. One of the reasons I bought this unit is because the photos show that it displays nice, tall, slim white characters for song information. I couldn't get mine, all I could do was squint at the microscopic characters, which could have been a lot bigger if it wasn't for the stupid histogram. I really liked the voltage display. Part of my testing involved using the unit in an RV and it came in handy to know the system voltage. PROS: Very easy setup, no problems with Bluetooth connection, good call quality, voltage indicator makes sense. CONS: Poor sound quality of music streamed via Bluetooth FM, screen difficult to read, useless bar graph "feature" that cannot be turned off. In summary, great for calls, bad for music.
