Review on ElectroOptix KT7 KT 7 KleerTemp Thermometer by Lance Foster

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Initially the accuracy was not as good as expected

Initially the accuracy was not as good as expected. No mass-produced thermometer is one unless each is individually calibrated to NIST standards (I'm an engineer and a retired US veteran, if that helps justify the honesty of this review). If you turn the thermometer upside down, however, you'll notice a bimetallic coil on the back, a small portion of which protrudes from a slot in its plastic housing. Tap this metal a few times with a toothpick to make sure it doesn't get stuck or jammed. It should be elastic and spring freely. I've tested this thermometer using two mercury thermometers, a local weather app on my cell phone, and my car (2014 Impala) and it's within 2 degrees. Can't expect better for this price. If the sun beats down all bets will be void; it needs to be in the shade if you want a reasonably accurate outside temperature. As for sticking to glass - no problem - just wash the window first (I used Windex) and it will stick perfectly.
