Good head for beginners. It has bubble levels on all axis controls. The knobs tighten well and there is a spring to help adjust camera height when heavy cameras are mounted on the plate. But there is one tripod head I would recommend to anyone considering this option: the Manfrotto 410 geared tripod head. The Manfrotto 410 is about twice the price of the Manfrotto 808RC4. But the 410 is a gearhead that gives the photographer fine control over axis steering. The 808RC4 is limited to adjusting and then tightening the grips, which can result in slight sagging after the grips are tightened. The 410 prevents this and also allows for fine adjustments to framing and composition, which is very difficult with the 808RC4. I think the 808RC4 will be a good choice for many users. I can only recommend it and think it's a great product. I just wanted every potential buyer to check out the 410 as well because I wish someone had told me about the 410 when I was reviewing the 808RC4 (if you're a serious photographer you'll probably upgrade). . Anyway, I recommend it! Another great product from Manfrotto!
