This lens is great, especially for the $249 I paid. What I like best is the sharpness, light weight and ability to focus at close range. I knew about the cons after reading and reading numerous reviews: slow focusing, noisy AF and distortion. The distortion is corrected automatically in my Sony A7iii and is also corrected in the editing software so this is not a problem. AF is the price you pay and is not a deal breaker to me. The 20mm focal length is wide enough for people like me who don't shoot a lot of ultra-wide angles. The bokeh is pretty good and f/2.8 is good enough for some low-light situations, especially. with A73 or better. I think this lens is great for those who want a decent ultra wide angle lens for under $300 and might not use too much wide angle and don't want to spend the money on a Tamron 17-28 or a Sony 20mm. 1.8 or maybe someone who wants a good quality ultra light ultra wide angle lens. This Tamron 20mm f/2.8 is smaller, lighter, cheaper and has a much shorter focus distance than both of these popular lenses. With macro capabilities, you can capture unique shots not possible with other lenses. Even with the ultra-wide focal length, you can completely blur the background! If you shoot a lot more VIDEOS, one of the other two lenses might work for you. For an episodic video, this Tammy is fine.
