Review on πŸ”Œ HOUSEYAS 1000 Watt Voltage Transformer Converter: Auto Step Up/Down, Surge & Circuit Breaker Protection by Jacob Jefferson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good quality, beautifully finished.

I wanted a metal one with a toroidal transformer. Toroidal transformers on paper are more efficient. I opened one of the two I bought because I was very curious about what's inside. The reason I wanted a metal case is simply because a lot of these transformers are very schematic and a lot of other products have burned out reviews. The metal case is just safer in case of overheating or malfunction. The ground wire actually grounds the case. I have electronics from Europe that require 230V. I had one, but it drew enough power to stay warm even with nothing plugged in. It doesn't seem to be. I can't say much about the "Soft Start" feature, but it seems to have a lot of power. a resistor inside and the ability to turn it on in series with the load to reduce the inrush current. It also has basic surge suppression built in, although it's probably very limited. Inside is a circuit board to control the automatic voltage switching. This board looks surprisingly normal.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
