Review on Raspberry Armor Metal Aluminium Heatsink by Brandon Grzankowski

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A must have given the excessive heat of the Pi 4 in the official case.

I have a Pi3 running plane detection software in my garden shed in South Texas, so you can imagine the ambient temperature is pretty hot. I couldn't have run it 24/7 for the last year if I hadn't had the exceptional chassis/heatsink I bought from iUniker here at Revain. When I finally got the Pi4 for Christmas and found that even indoors and idling, in the official Pi Foundation case, it was running at 76°C (168°F) and the WiFi kept dropping out, I knew it was the Time was to buy another this heatsink. . I have the fan version (now called MazerPi although I believe it's the same company as iUniker) and after a few days of 24/7 the temperature stays stable at 42°C and my wifi is working again. Too bad I sold this Pi4 which doesn't work reliably even in an official case (and that was in my air-conditioned 71F house, not in my garden shed where temperatures reach over 100°C at times). Luckily, there are third-party cases that fix their overheating issues. Make no mistake, this is a heatsink and fan, not a case. It doesn't keep dust out - there are plenty of open holes - what it does, and does well, is circulate hot air and keep your Pi4 running reliably. Just a little warning when assembling the case: the included thermal tape is easy to break and not very sticky, so carefully peel off the backing (both sides) and apply carefully. That minor caveat aside, this is a well-designed all-metal chassis/heatsink that's definitely worth the investment to save your expensive Pi4 from an early heat death.
