My friend has some old ThinkPads that he gives to his young kids for 'distance learning'. school activities during new coronavirus quarantine. His young son dropped one on the concrete floor, which broke the original Seagate 320GB 7200rpm hard drive. I couldn't get the machine to recognize the 2.5" SSD - that would require a firmware update which wouldn't be possible without a running OS. So I settled on a spinning disk. This 500GB drive was recognized immediately and I installed a copy of Windows 10 Professional Education Edition which happened to be in my Box O' Fun. After about four hours of Windows updates and reboots, the machine is back up and running just as well as before. good value for money if you need a spinning laptop hard drive.
