Like the other reviewer here - mine came unboxed - just a counter and soft case with a sticker on the outside. Unlike the other reviewer, I can't say there is no electrode, only one electrode is very short (the one with the white silicone sealant). since the sticker on his photo is rippling.) The instructions are abysmal and the website is mostly for the newer model (I have the older model without the calibration screw hole). I used it to check my pool's TDS and confirm the factory calibration with distilled water. EDIT: A "zero" reading from distilled water doesn't mean it's calibrated. I tested my water twice at the pool shop and this instrument reads 400ppm lower than the pool shop reading. (631 vs. 1100/1000) Does the manufacturer expect us to know where a known missing hole needs to be drilled and also that we buy the correct calibration solution? I'm taking off another star now that I know how far this thing is. Although I'm an environmentalist and hate excess packaging waste - at least it should have been in a box. The counter arrived in an Amazon box with a couple of security bags which did nothing to make this counter bounce around.
