Can't judge because I bought it with a filter for washing. I measured TDS b4 and then installed the filter. It shows the same 152 PPM! I'm confused. I know the filter is working properly because when I wash the dishes after installing the filter, there are no more limescale deposits on cutlery, glasses, plates, etc.

I received the test meter in just a few days of the order date and got to work checking the water before and after replacing my reverse osmosis test system. As expected, there was a significant difference in the readings of dirty and clean water. I can now regularly check the water quality with a meter instead of my family's taste buds. I'm sure I'll be changing the reverse osmosis filters more often to keep the family and reverse osmosis systems healthy.

We live in an area where you really can't drink water. After installing an entire home water filtration system, water softener, and UV system, I had to test the water regularly to make sure everything was working. I compare the readings of tap water with water from different bottles. This tester does an excellent job of determining TDS parts per million. I also brought samples into town to ensure my readings are reliable and worth the money as city tests have proven.

You can calibrate this meter but you must cut the bezel to the left of the "Shift" button. I used a precision knife and then twisted the handle. Not too much on arrival. This does NOT come with calibration fluid. I've seen one star reviews for this reason alone; It's a standalone counter and it does what it's supposed to do. Ideal for checking water quality and/or nutrient levels. If you want the calibration button on the outside of the meter make sure you buy the newer version 2.

I planted cherry tomatoes in my air garden - I had to turn on the lights when they grew 3 1/2 feet. I was concerned that they might not be getting enough food so I bought this device. First, EC is shown in microsiemens (US) and most hydroponics charts are shown in millisiemens (mS). You need to divide the readings by 1000 to compare them to the tables. In my garden it was 0594 ms or 0.594 ms. The charts call for 2.0 to 5.0 for tomatoes. Before I added any nutrients, I wanted to check the meter.

Like the other reviewer here - mine came unboxed - just a counter and soft case with a sticker on the outside. Unlike the other reviewer, I can't say there is no electrode, only one electrode is very short (the one with the white silicone sealant). since the sticker on his photo is rippling.)
