I bought this sensor on the recommendation of my installer. I needed to filter my tap water in the kitchen and he recommended I buy a water quality sensor to check the water quality improvement. The sensor is easy to use and provides instant results. He verified that my new filter actually improved the quality of my tap water. The sensor has built-in temperature compensation. Therefore, there are different water quality indicators for cold water and water from the surrounding area. Cold numbers are smaller, and smaller is healthier. Water quality is measured by total dissolved solids (TDS) in parts per million. I suspect more minerals dissolve at ambient temperature? However, some sensor measurements are not meaningful. For example, the water filtered by a refrigerator filter is sometimes measured higher than the tap water that feeds it!
