When I first ordered the jar lid was broken (one corner chipped). I have requested a replacement. The same piece (the lid of the container) was also broken when it was replaced - even worse than the first because that one was unusable. Like a grater, nothing. It works. But like a box grater, well, some of the cheese falls outside of the box onto the counter. Not much, but enough to notice and mention. I had a microplane grater many years prior to this Oxo and don't recall having this microplane issue. One thing I really appreciate about this grater is the razor on the side, which works really well for shaving a piece. parmesan cheese Much better than a vegetable peeler. I've never used a slicer on a microplane, so I can't compare.
