Great Replacement for Grip Derailleur

If you are viewing this product you are most likely looking for a replacement for the Grip Derailleur on a bike your child is struggling with. This shifter is your solution. First a little background on the problem. The problem isn't that you have a crappy shifter, it's that the derailleur spring is too strong for baby hands. When you downshift, you pull the shifter harder and harder, making it harder to shift into lower gears. This shifter gives your child a mechanical advantage over the spring, making it easier for them to shift into lower gears. You can still feel a bit of tension when downshifting, but my daughter has no problem with that. As well as solving the switching issue mentioned, it appears to be durable and has withstood my daughter's abuse. Installation is pretty easy, take pictures of everything first so you can route the cables as they were before. You need to adjust the rear derailleur for the new shifter. Don't let that put you off, there are plenty of videos on YouTube showing you how to do it. Before replacing this lever I had never adjusted a derailleur. 5 minutes on YouTube and I was able to do it AND adjust the derailleurs on all my other bikes. What I haven't mentioned in other reviews is that you need to buy new handlebar grips for the bike. Bikes with clutch derailleurs have shorter grips because the derailleur is part of the grip.
