I bought this to replace my Zmodo DVR that would no longer put out a video signal. This worked perfectly. I already had the 4 BNC type cameras wired and in place for outdoor home surveillance. I just swapped the HDD out of the dead DVR, hooked up the 4 cameras and boom. It automatically formatted the HDD and worked great ! I was worried about the HDD not being able to format or be compatible but it worked great ! It's a Western Blue 1 Tb (old style) with a SATA connection. I would have gave the night vision 5 stars, however the quality of night vision comes from your cameras. The more IR LED's a camera has, its obvious going to have better night vision. So, it's really not the DVR. In addition, this DVR has a lot more capabilities and features than my previous Zmodo. Great Product!
