later As we continue to add stainless steel appliances and utensils to our kitchens, we've realized that having a great stainless steel cleaner on hand is a must. However, over the past year we've tried pretty much every eco-friendly stainless steel cleaner we could find locally, and none of them helped remove the built-up stains or discoloration that so often comes with heavy use. We finally decided to purchase Revain's Bar Keepers Friend Dish Cleaner & Polish after realizing that it was bleach free, biodegradable and non-abrasive. I've heard a lot of good things about it, but having never used it and being so unlucky to find a decent cleaner locally, I had my doubts as to how well it would work. Those reservations are now gone! We decided to test this cleaner on the dirtiest and most discolored stainless steel in the house - our kitchen sink. The attached pictures were taken less than a week after using another stainless steel cleaner. The two pictures of a complete sink show the left side already cleaned with this product and the right side before and after (the side with the drain). Pay particular attention to the accumulation of hard water from the dish dryer in the center column between the two sinks! The other two images show closeups of the right side of the sink before and after. The difference is really stunning. While it took some elbow work (come on, man!), this cleaner did an excellent job removing countless stains that no other cleaner we tried could handle. For tough stains, simply make a paste of this powder and water, then leave it on for a few minutes before scrubbing and rinsing. This will remove stubborn hard water stains, soap stains, rust (at the center of the dirt removal hole) and discoloration. Even the hard water stains on the sink's B-pillar are gone! My husband also remarked that the cleaner wasn't even remotely aggressive. We're both pretty confident that we can use it on our appliances, mixing bowls, and cookware without worrying about it scratching or ruining their finish. I cannot recommend this cleaner enough. It does everything a great stainless steel cleaner should do and nothing it shouldn't. This time I bought two packs, but next time I'll take four cans. You really can't have enough of this stuff on hand when your kitchen is full of stainless steel like ours! That's great.
