Fixed Fan Motor Problem

The fan motor in my '95 Dodge Dakota stopped working at high RPM. Then came the next higher speed. Then another. In the end, only the lowest fan speed worked and I was afraid that if it stopped working, I wouldn't be able to fog the windows anymore. Correcting the problem resulted in blow-off resistance. I found it in an odd place, in the engine bay on the firewall, not near the fan motor. I replaced it with this one and now the fan works great. Curiously, it was this location that caused the original to fail. The resistor itself was fine ("the insides" are protected inside the firewall), the pins exposed in the engine compartment "outside" were corroded and chipped when I removed it. In theory, you could try salvaging the connectors or even try soldering in new ones, but it's a lot easier paying just $7 to buy these replacements. The exchange took only a few minutes. I spent a lot more time finding it, but now that I've told you where it is, you can skip it.
