Assembles in about 25-30 minutes. light enough. It should have been about 15 minutes. I had the back upside down so it took an extra 5-10 minutes to figure it out so be sure to double check because the top doesn't fit when upside down. Do not tighten until all parts are assembled. The rat parts are not attached and will definitely encourage chewing. It's definitely not as heavy as your standard prison cage, but looks 1000% better. The tray arrived damaged and definitely flimsy. Since it was not a cheap box, I will ask for a replacement. For the money it should be a quality box. It's nice but I don't know how durable it will be. My dog is obviously not interested in this fancy box. He loves his cage and I don't, so I hope he accepts it and doesn't decide to destroy it. It was cool. I received a partial refund for a damaged box; HOWEVER, the pan is NOT a standard size and it is impossible to find a pan that fits in the drawer. Medium is too small and Large is too big. The bottom of the crate is covered with wires with wide gaps, so a pallet will be needed. While I like the crate myself and am great for my 56 pound bulldog, finding a new crate has been a real challenge. I went to Lowe and cut out a thick piece of plywood. Measures 8.5" x 12". Do yourself a favor and get a wooden board because if the pan ever breaks, you won't find a replacement.
