Just got the scissors so can't comment on how they hold up. But they are VERY durable. Each of the handles is made from one piece, making them look bulletproof. They really come apart, so the two handles are dishwasher safe. I washed them in the dishwasher and they were fine. Note that the spring comes out of the handles. Be careful not to lose it. They seem to be straight from Germany. The markings on the box are completely German. I'm not sure if it's important, but thought I'd mention it. *** UPDATE July 19, 2012 *** After a few months of use I can say these things are great! They are ideal for degreasing chicken or other meat. They look like new after several washes in the dishwasher. They fit perfectly in your hand. Note: I remove the spring and disassemble the scissors when I put them in the dishwasher. I put the feather on the windowsill until it comes out of the dishwasher. I love that you can disassemble it and clean it in the dishwasher. I've never felt very comfortable using fixed-prong scissors that required hand washing to cut raw meat. How can you be sure that you have removed all juices/bacteria from the hinge mechanism? Buy a set today!
