Review on AVerMedia EZMaker 7 USB Video Capture Card: Convert RCA Composite, VHS to DVD with S-Video | Cyberlink Media Suite Software Included | Windows 10 Support (C039) by Wiktor ygado ᠌

It was a reasonable purchase, will order more.

It was not possible to compare the quality of digitization with other devices in this category, but the market is quite niche. Under macOS only this product, in fact, under Windows in usb format there are not too many options either. There are better ones, judging by the reviews on youtube, but for vhs it's not particularly critical, in my opinion. As I understand it, most of the "faints" on this topic use old pci-cards and WinXP for digitization, with the quality of which no usb-stick has yet been compared. So basically there are no other options.

Pros
  • Unlike Chinese clones a la EasyCap, it works out of the box. High quality body materials. It seems like the presence of support from the developer.
Cons
  • There was a Chinese clone of EasyCap - under macOS it didn’t start at all, under Win7 it didn’t start at all through the virtualDub mod, only sound started through Debut Video Recorder. The same device under Win7 took off immediately, moreover, both in virtualDub and in Debut. I am sure that in all similar applications there will be a similar situation. Under macOS, it also worked without problems, but only on native software. iMovie refused to identify it as a source. And, in fact, the drawback itself is that support ends on macOS Sierra. There are no drivers for High Sierra and especially Mojave. Developers have been feeding the "next quarter" for half a year now. I don’t know what’s wrong with Win10, I haven’t tried it, but formally there is support in the drivers.
