Horrible & Frustrating

You think you will save money using this but honestly just rent the mitre saw. This is too short to use for most molding sizes and the saw is so cheap it destroys the wood. You spend so much more time and frustration - I paused on all my remodeling after 1 corner of the room since this was such a headache. Borrowed a real mitre instead and it’s been smooth sailing.

Pros
  • Hand Tools
Cons
  • Requires specific blade compatibility

Makes hand sawing wood trim easy

When you don’t have the power tools necessary to cut trim this mitre box set does the trick easily. Sturdy and quality product.

Pros
  • CONVENIENT STORAGE: Molded-in storage bins to hold cam pins and pencil
Cons
  • Not ideal for those with limited hand strength or mobility

Excellent product: my feedback

This miter box and saw are really good. The stabilizers that hold the wood steady make it much better than others without that feature. It made my project easy.

Pros
  • Works fine lasts a long time.
Cons
  • plastic crap

Garbage DONT BUY in my review

Garbage Product! Plastic handle broke first time we used it. The box is flimsy and the saw flexes. Not good at all. 100% GARBAGE DONT BUY IT!

Pros
  • Exactly what I needed. Did the work I expected it to do.
Cons
  • May require additional accessory purchases to function optimally

The Saw Is Garbage but Still a Good Value

This is super handy for the price. I had a few baseboards to cut and I didn’t want to spend a lot of coin on something that would only be used a couple of times. The saw is pretty crappy but you get what you pay for. It got the job done and I’m satisfied overall.

Pros
  • Product is exactly as expected
Cons
  • May produce a lot of noise, disrupting surroundings

Bargain! And it worked!

My first time cutting molding trim and first time cutting anything at a 45 degree angle. I thought I'd have some user error, but turned out to be pretty intuitive to use. Easy Breezy!Considering this saw only cost an additional 4 or 5 dollars, I didn't really expect much from the saw. I used it in one direction (pull) and it did the job no problem and still seems to have plenty of life left for other house projects. One note: I did get a little over zealous and actually cut through a millimeter…

Pros
  • Extended lip on base holds mitre box in place while cutting and a built-in saw stop helps prevent cutting into mitre box
Cons
  • May not work well in smaller workspaces

I don't recommend this

I bought this miter box and saw to cut a couple pieces of 2 inch pvc pipe and several 2x4s. I could have done better if I made the cuts free handed. I clamped the box to my work table and used the holding cams, but could not get an accurate cut. The saw was useless. I tried a smaller toothed hack saw. Though easer, the cuts were even more crooked. Unless you're cutting balsa wood or equally soft materials, I think you will probably find this a waste of money.

Pros
  • With a 45-degree tilt capacity, this Mitre Saw is capable of handling a wide range of cuts, from basic angle cuts to more complex compound mitres
Cons
  • May produce uneven cuts if used improperly

Meh. Gets the job done. Barely.

Bought it in a pinch for a small job that I couldn’t easily bring another saw to. It’s cheap and, basic, but still it barely got the job done and I almost could have done better by hand.

Pros
  • Have not used yet but it is built good not to wear
Cons
  • Requires a lot of patience and skill to use effectively

For the money, a remarkably handy tool to own

It isn't as easy as a power miter saw but I've used it repeatedly for accurate cutting of wood and plastic. Only limitation is in the width of the board it will accept, 4 1/2 inches.

Pros
  • Great addition for crafters
Cons
  • Blade can be easily damaged if used incorrectly

Good manual mitre saw, but some drawbacks

It could be a bit sturdier. I like guard that stops the saw. Would work best if you mount the clamping box to something larger like a workbench or piece of wood.

Pros
  • Handsaws
Cons
  • May not be suitable for larger scale projects

Spend more, thank me later

Bought this April 9th. Wanted to give it some time of use before reviewing. It is now August 5th and I have 3 thoughts on this: 1) It is cheap to buy, but for a reason. 2) For just a little bit more money Craftsman could have put out a better product. 3) The old Stanley one I had years ago had a MUCH sharper saw than this one! My #1 biggest complaint is the saw blade itself. It was almost as dull as a old used one even though it was brand new. Takes forever to saw though door frame trim. Now on

Pros
  • Does the job for the price.
Cons
  • For craftsman don’t waste your money I have made my own miter boxes they where much better than this one

Go ahead and buy yourself a news saw also

The saw that comes with the box is horrible. It constantly snags. Do yourself a favor and also get yourself an inexpensive (not cheap) hand miter saw that doesn't come pre-packaged with a miter box. Spend the extra money to ease the frustration of cutting baseboard with a plastic miter box and get yourself a decent saw. The saws that come in these kits are usually a little too short and shallow unless you make little baby cuts 1/2" long so the saw doesn't pop out of the groove.

Pros
  • It is light & I really like that it has a mitre box to help with correct angle cutting!
Cons
  • Consumes a lot of electricity
