1997 2001 Cherokee Release Cable Handle Review

Not quite factory. The pull handle is crooked after assembly. Works much better than a 20 year old factory pen, quality control could be better.

It's a little hard to pull and the eyelet is opposite on the inside of the bulkhead, but looks nice and opens the hood! Definitely worth taking the time to lubricate all the under-hood parts and get them moving as smoothly as possible!

Cables to open the hood worked perfectly. Installation was very easy and only took a few minutes. Be sure to lubricate the locking mechanism under the hood where the cable attaches. If this part is rusty and stuck under the hood like mine, you'll have to wiggle it back and forth to loosen it. If you choose not to, your new cable is likely to break just like the old one.

As Mopar no longer makes this part for our 22 year old Jeep we had to buy this part after we had a broken wire on the hood. The first cable also broke almost immediately so the seller made a quick return/exchange. But even the second one didn't fit quite right as it was about 1/4-1/2 inch longer so we still couldn't get the hood latch to work properly. works but with great difficulty It was not quite the correct size despite claiming to be a direct OEM replacement for our specific part number.
