Check if it matters which end of the cable goes where.

The cables worked great. My wires were broken, causing the door ajar light to come on every time I opened or closed a door or sunroof window. Then my window wouldn't open. Replacing the cables solved these problems. I may have connected the cables backwards because the white end was very tight and the black end was so loose that I had to use pliers to squeeze the holder a bit to make sure the end didn't come out of the holder. Does not fit the window latch.

Won't fit on window latches as another reviewer noted. To attach the end of a window latch, you must first remove the latch and then either "shape" the cable end with a keyhole knife or bend a .10" thick steel tab to insert the cable end. And there's very little room to grab onto the tongue. The other end fits a twist grip. Tailgate latch, yes the cable goes to both ends but access is terrible. WORKS GREAT on both the tailgate and window on the 2002 Expedition

After struggling for hours with the missized metal sleeves Friday night, I ordered two of these cables for $19 each Friday night for a tailgate and window repair. THEY arrived on SUNDAY midday and were installed on Sunday evening. Installation is quite tricky due to lack of space, but if you take a photo of the cable routing as a reminder, then unscrew the latches and take your time, it's doable.
