Does not work.: my feedback

I have a very old laptop with only a 9-pin DB serial connector for a mouse. I bought a PS/2 mouse and these connectors. The mouse works perfectly on another system. My serial port works with a modem. I plug in the working mouse into this adapter into a working serial port, the laser won't even light up. I'm glad it came as a 2-pack, so I know the design doesn't work (or I just got a fluke and 2 bad ones). Either way, not impressed at all.I went so far as to test each pin individually. Only 2 of

Great price for an easy fix!

Just a perfect adapter for the necessary job! So glad we could find so easily on Walmart. This is for an old piece of office equipment that may need an external optical mouse once the touchpad burns out.

  • Great to find parts to keep an old PC running.
Cons
  • These are junk. Took a real genius to screw up this design.

Warning not for Windows 95 machines !

I bought these PS2(F) to Serial(F) adapters explicitly for my Windows 95 frame up restore, replace. retrobright, and rebuild. Both of them do not work for this application. My old Microsoft Serial mouse was no longer working right. I found a Microsoft mouse with a PS2 connection (still shrink wrapped) here on amazon. Does not work - Wired wrong

I have a MS ps2/serial mouse and it doesnt work. Win95 & Win2000. Checked ps2 to serial wiring diagrams and found its not wired correctly. Not sure what its for but not adapting a ps2 mouse to db9.

  • bought it to work with old DOS system computer. Works fine.
Cons
  • If you're getting this for a 486 it will not work. Will not detect the mouse.
