I've been using it for 2 years now :)

I've been using this carbon impregnated foam pad in my Fluval FX6 for 2 years now. The water in my aquarium is always crystal clear. I change my pad once a month, add some loose carbon to my knee, tie it at the end and trim any extra tights. A box of 10 pairs costs a few bucks and gives me 20 aquarium bags to add carbon or whatever else I need to add. I've used Fluval impregnated foam pads and they work great, but I've never tried the cheaper pads that don't have a name but are cheap. I can't…

Well if you have seen any of my Fluval or Seachem product reviews you will no doubt come to the conclusion that I only use these 2 products and they buy bulk at the best price. Why? As they work flat and easy I've seen and even tried off-brands at great prices, while off-brands do their job well I've found that at least in my setups (several very large aquariums and sky-inhabited African cichlids) . and SA/CA, which are very, very big and messy fish), non-standard brands clog up a little…

Perfect for a complete foam replacement - misleading advertising

An avid Ehiem fan for 35 years, it was a slow transition to the FX5, of which I now use three. The filter is a beast, especially if you are keeping dirty fish you will see that it pays for itself almost immediately. I'm still an Ehiem fan and swear by their build quality, but if you can buy three FX5s for the price of one 1200 XL - and that's without a strap, that's no problem.
