Do not scratch the cylinder heads!

I was trying to clean some gasket residue from a lawnmower engine head. I started using a scraper, which worked for thicker materials. But then I started scratching the back of my head as I settled on the finer things. I searched the internet for help to clear my head and this was one of the recommended methods. worked for me

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

My choice for preparing the engine gasket surface

Like most buyers I also use it to remove the engine gasket. They're great for that. I have made several motors with it and have reordered many times. They're fairly gentle on aluminum, and while a coarser grit can be used on cast iron, they're good too, but take longer. With enough work, the surface of this preparation will be like new.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Functionality

Ideal for cylinder head gaskets

I wish I had known these things a million years ago. Yes you have to be careful to keep moving and not hit your head or block etc but overall very easy and safe to use. Wear decreases over time, which I believe constantly exposes a new layer of shredded material, but the two I received easily outlasted my engine rebuild project. You would think they would be clogged with padding material like regular sandpaper. But that's not the case!

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Empty

I use it to clean gasket faces

I bought it on YouTube recommendation to clean engine mating surfaces. This is a tool for the job. I cannot tell you how many surfaces and time has been spent cleaning surfaces so carefully with razor blades and scrapers. You must really try to damage the surface with it. I bought 4 to make the motor and ended up only needing 1 so they work well too.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

A MUST HAVE for anyone replacing head gaskets

First I tried a razor then a brass spoked wheel. To spare you the details, it was a disaster. Then I saw some videos of people using this Roloc disc with great success. I ordered it for delivery the next day and it arrived on time with no problems. The wheels have not let me down. Combined with the grinder and the attachment I bought to hold the disc on the grinder, it was like night and day. He cleaned the block and head like butter!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide
