After much deliberation I ordered a K&N Typhoon Air Intake for my 2005 RX8. I chose this one because of the ease of installation and the sound profile. I found the installation a bit tedious, but my biggest problem was getting the stock airbox out. I bought it for my Mazda RX-8 in 2004 and there are no complaints. Installation was easy. All you really need is a ratchet, screwdriver and Allen key. It took about 15 minutes to assemble the inlet, then another 15 minutes to install it. After installing it, I tested it around the block and loved it. The inlet emits a nice loud but deep growl. It can stay quiet at around 2000 rpm, but once you start revving to around 3000+ the intake really shines. I immediately fell in love with the reception.

Bought a K&N cold air intake for my 2004 Mazda Rx8 (AUTO). What can I say? I love this product. The cold air intake is not difficult to install, you need a ratchet, screwdriver, pliers, that's all. Took me about 60 minutes to install, another half hour to road test and double check everything. Overall, the cool air intake definitely adds a bit of low-end appeal, and the car is a bit sharper on track, but I'm not really trying to win.
