Bought a K&N cold air intake for my 2004 Mazda Rx8 (AUTO). What can I say? I love this product. The cold air intake is not difficult to install, you need a ratchet, screwdriver, pliers, that's all. Took me about 60 minutes to install, another half hour to road test and double check everything. Overall, the cool air intake definitely adds a bit of low-end appeal, and the car is a bit sharper on track, but I'm not really trying to win. Racing, I just love the sound of a free breathing engine. K&N wants you to believe that cool air intake adds tons of horsepower. I dont know. But it makes your car sound amazing! And noisy at high speeds. So expect to hear your RX8 like never before, it's an awesome sound! Might annoy the neighbors a bit, but the nice thing is that the car is mostly quiet at low revs. But once you start accelerating, especially above 3500 rpm, it sounds like you're driving a Formula 1 car. minus speed. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. like that, laugh. Installation: Not the easiest K&N cold air kit I've ever made, but mostly because of the RX8's low seating position. You have to bend down a lot. i'm getting old That hurts. It takes a few tools, just the tricky part is adjusting everything so the engine cover will fit again after installing the new kit. Something you should be aware of; If the battery is disconnected on an RX8 ('04 at least), the traction control system warning light will normally illuminate. Normally this is normal. On the running car, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, then to the left; everything should go out, no warning lights. You may need to start the car several times before performing this procedure. Well, fire it up, listen to your amazing new trick, then turn it off. Repeat this several times or drive a little and then follow the procedure above. Be careful - if the light is on you should assume you don't have traction control. Buy this listing and you will be happy. If you really want to make your Mazda faster, add lightness and turbocharging to it.
