(Updated) Not working - smelled like burnt electrics

UPDATE: I was able to return the faulty part and get a full refund. Due to an experience I did NOT trade for another, I opted for a refund instead and bought from FS.com (Fiberstore). The seller tried to contact me to update the rating so I added a star for his efforts and he indicated that he has a new source that he thinks is better. Your mileage may vary. Initial Rating: 1/5 Stars: When I plugged this SFP adapter into my new switch, I heard a small popping sound and smelled like burning…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • No paint needed

Works great for network transceivers

Works great. Plugged it in and he and my workstation negotiated 10Gbps with no problem. Excellent value for money and quality. Use 2 of them with TP-Link T1700G-28TQ. They work great.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Security

Hot but connects to 10GB

They get a little warm but seem to work fine. I've heard it's that hot for most people, but I have no personal experience. Stable 10Gb connection even over a short CAT5e cable (not rated for 10Gb).

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Doubtful

Not compatible with QNAP devices

Some of these Cisco transceivers are not only compatible with Cisco devices; this one doesn't seem to be. It works fine in my Cisco switch, but I needed a transceiver for QNAP switch. If you have a Cisco device it should work fine, but I bought a HiFiber transceiver for my needs.

Pros
  • I keep my fists
Cons
  • Functionality
